The West Virginia Children’s Health Project (WVCHP) provides comprehensive primary care to children and adolescents living in rural and somewhat isolated areas of southwestern West Virginia. 

Accessing high-quality healthcare can be a challenge for these families due to lack of financial resources and transportation. The WVCHP overcomes many of these barriers by providing services to these families out of their mobile medical clinic at weekly clinics conducted at school and community sites across three counties. The majority of the patients are White families (93%) and just over 6% identify as Black/African American. The majority of the children (98%) are insured through Medicaid and SCHIP.

Many of the families struggle with chronic diseases such as asthma and others associated with poor nutrition.  The West Virginia CHP provides pediatric care to patients during clinics at school sites throughout Wayne, Lincoln and Cabell counties in the southwestern region of West Virginia.
